Holistic Nutrition

food as fuel

The body is an amazing creation.  Without any conscious involvement, it can maintain our health and even heal itself when problems arise ... provided we use the right fuel.  Whether you are looking to improve your diet or address a health concern, proper nutrition can give your body just what it needs to complete the task.

Jen provides individualized nutrition counseling for adults and children to address various health conditions, psychological issues, and disease prevention. She believes in the medicinal power of foods and herbs and helps her clients improve their quality of life through diet and lifestyle changes.  Her holistic approach includes educating her clients on simple yet effective ways to provide the body with optimal nutrition through eating a variety of clean whole foods. She uses therapeutic foods and herbs and addresses lifestyle, such as stress reduction and environmental toxin considerations, to enhance healing.

Jen earned her B.A. in psychology in 1995 from Emory University and her M.A. in Varying Exceptionalities (Special Education) in 2000 from the University of South Florida.  Prior to becoming a holistic nutritionist, Jen was a special education resource teacher and has worked extensively with children of all ages in both public and private school settings.

Jen has always had an interest in health and fitness.  However, her desire to further understand how to nourish the body so that it can heal itself and function properly was driven by a very personal experience.  While still in her teens, Jen lost her mother to cancer and began searching for various methods to prevent this all too prevalent disease in our society.

While teaching, Jen also learned how diet and food sensitivities can affect children’s academic success and their behavior.  Her mission to find underlying causes of health issues and brain function led her to become passionate about nutrition and pursue a career in the field.

In 2013, she began a Master’s level therapeutic nutrition program at Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition in Boulder, Colorado to earn her certification as a Nutrition Consultant.  She is also a member of the National Association of Nutrition Professionals and Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition (candidate).

Jen lives in Superior, CO with her husband and two children.  She enjoys spending time outdoors in the beautiful foothills and mountains near her home, working in her own organic backyard garden, and connecting with her community.

To contact Jen, you can email her at jen@foodworkswellness.com or call her at 303.325.7446.
